Daniel Cohen, President (back to top)

Mr. Cohen is currently the Chief Executive Officer of Atlantic Capes Fisheries, Inc., responsible for all facets of operations including planning, personnel, negotiations, financing, vessel operations and management. Operations of the companies currently include management of 20 vessels, two waterfront facilities (Cape May and Point Pleasant), a New England Marketing Division (New Bedford, Massachusetts) and operational facilities in Bristol, Rhode Island. 

In 1976, Mr. Cohen began offloading commercial fishing vessels at a facility in Cape May. Mr. Cohen expanded into vessel operations with the purchase of the first fishing vessel in 1978.  Operations have expanded vertically to integrate fishing, processing and sales.

Mr. Cohen is a member of numerous industry associations, an active participant in State/Federal Fisheries Regulatory Programs and has been recognized for his environmental leadership role by being awarded the “FINese Award for Responsible Fisheries” by the National Fisheries Institute.  Mr. Cohen attended Cornell University.

 

Aviv Goldsmith, Chief Operating Officer (back to top)

Mr. Goldsmith is president of Precursor Systems, Inc., a consulting firm specializing in development services for the independent power industry. He began in the IPP industry in 1984 and has a broad range of experience including renewable energy. His background includes project development, financing, project management, construction oversight, and operations management for a variety of projects in the Americas.

Mr. Goldsmith has a bachelors degree from Cornell University, a masters degree in energy systems from the State University of New York College of Environmental Science and Forestry, and a MBA from Syracuse University. Mr. Goldsmith also has a 5th degree blackbelt in the traditional Japanese martial art of Aikido.

 

 Andrew Gould, VP of Finance (back to top)

Mr. Gould's is president of New York-based Arthur P. Gould & Co., merchant and investment bankers. He has nearly 25 years of business-development and corporate finance experience with technology-based hardware, software, and service companies, including several innovative alternative energy companies (one publicly-traded, one acquired by GE, and one acquired by BP). His background includes seed and equity financing, all of the organizational, planning, budgeting, staffing, recruiting, business-development and marketing activities needed to support those financings and complex corporate partnering transactions pairing major international companies with innovative startups.

Mr. Gould has a bachelors degree from Yale University and a masters degree in finance and economics from New York University. Mr. Gould has extensive international experience and is multi-lingual.

 

 Paul Gallagher, General Counsel (back to top)

Mr. Gallagher is Vice President and General Counsel of the Atlantic County Utilities Authority, a role he assumed in March of 2000. The ACUA, with over 250 employees and an annual budget of $62 million, is the Environmental leader in the region.  He served as Project Manager for the Jersey Atlantic Wind Farm, the first coastal, urban wind farm in New Jersey and maintains a small private practice providing legal and consultation services to wind developers and landowners. Prior to joining the ACUA, he served as County Counsel for Atlantic County from 1995 to 2000 and prior to that he was the City Solicitor for Atlantic City from 1990-1995.

Mr. Gallagher, who served as President of the Atlantic County Bar Association in 2003-2004, has practiced Law in Atlantic County for twenty-five years.  A 1982 graduate of Boston College Law School, he also holds an MBA from Clark University in Worcester, Massachusetts and a Bachelors Degree from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

 

 Rhonda Jackson, Communications (back to top)

Ms. Jackson owns her own consulting company, Strategic Business Integration Associates, which provides key business solutions to non-profit organizations, as well as to small business start-ups. Services include: development, marketing, public relations, business planning, project management, computer, financial and revenue assurance.

Prior to moving to New Jersey in 2003, Ms. Jackson resided in Northern Virginia and enjoyed a 20+ year career in the telecommunications and publishing industries.

Ms. Jackson brings extensive managerial experience from a Fortune 10 corporation. Her most recent assignment was establishing and managing the billing and receivables management functions for Verizon’s long distance subsidiary. Her expertise in building effective teams and business units, financial, negotiation and analytical skills, attention to detail and customer service focus, are all skills she brings to the organization. Ms. Jackson attended St. Thomas Aquinas College.

 

 Peter Hughes, Rural Electric Cooperative Coordinator (back to top)

Mr. Hughes is currently the Fresh Sales Manager of Atlantic Capes Fisheries, Inc., a leading harvester and marketer of scallops and other seafood from the cold, fertile waters of the North and Mid-Atlantic. Mr. Hughes has spent his career in various managerial positions at Atlantic Capes.

Over his career, Mr. Hughes has been active on many fishing industry committees, including the National Marine Fisheries Association, Garden State Seafood Association and the Cape May Seafood Association.
